Punch biopsies : very simple, minor scarring, suitable for most non pigemnted lesions for diagnosis.
Shave biopsies : Suitable for raised skin lesions/ sometimes flat pigmented lesions, if done correctly can provide a good sample and excellent cosmetic result.
Ellipse excisions : the basic straight exision for most benign & cancer lesions
Skin flap surgery : For bigger lesions and in areas where elipse excision can not be achieved.
Skin Graft surgery : Usually is the last resort for big lesions or where both Ellipse and flap surgeries are not possible.
